last 2 weeks recap
if I had a picture to capture it, it would be...
we’ll get to the picture, but 2.5 weeks ago, we did this:
the recap is only vertical right now…
But it was special to do it together with these guys:
b/c I’ve known Matt since we were freshman, and I used to babysit Michael!
To recover, we had a week of Sabbath, where we did things like:
and eat a lot of food. Imagine 4 pictures of small groups of people eating food:
And then we had our first ever SoCal AVL Invitational Tournament, with 82 participating, 14 teams from LA, Pomona, OC.
I talked about Hebrews 12:1 - what it means to be faithful. Individually, we’re just weak strands of thread, but together, we can do so much more.
If you let go, I’ll fall, but together, we can lift even a 190 lb man.
The power of the network lies, not in the awesomeness of the individual, but in each person being faithful to their post.
I had everyone chant: “we’re part of something bigger” and had them look around at the cloud of witnesses that enables us to be faithful when we want to give up in volleyball and in life. That cloud includes not only the coaches, but also all the parents that were behind us (~100), and even people outside of that gym.
Me in that net, being carried by those middle schoolers captures the past few weeks for me. I’ve had to have faith in a lot of people other than myself, and it’s been a wild ride at times, but each moment has been a personal reminder, that I AM part of something bigger, so I need to be faithful to my post.
I’ll try to be more faithful to posting too. Here’s John Chung experimenting with .5 selfies:
not bad! SoCal United!
